Signature Field
The Signature field enables users to sign documents directly within a form. It supports two modes: Saved Signature (stored in the user’s profile) and Draw/Upload Signature (sign in real time or upload an image). When a saved signature is applied, NileDesk automatically records the signature image, the signer’s name, and the date/time of signing — ensuring authenticity and traceability.
Properties
You can configure the Signature field with the following options:
- Field Title — Display label shown on the form.
- Field ID — Unique identifier used in expressions and references.
- Helper Text — Optional text displayed beneath the field.
- Signature Options — Define which signing methods are available:
- Saved Signature Only — User can only use their stored signature.
- Draw/Upload Only — User must draw or upload a new signature each time.
- Allow Both — User can either use a saved signature or draw/upload a new one.
Behaviors
Like other fields, the Signature field supports conditional expressions to control:
- Visibility — Show or hide the field dynamically.
- Enable/Disable — Make the field interactive or read-only.
- Mandatory — Require signature capture under specific conditions.
How It Works in Live Forms
- With a saved signature — Clicking Sign inserts the stored signature, along with the signer’s name and timestamp.
- Without a saved signature — User can draw their signature using the built-in canvas tool or upload an image, which will then be stored and applied.
- All signed fields are locked for traceability, ensuring reliable approvals and confirmations within processes.
Signatures captured in NileDesk comply with common approval and auditing requirements by associating each signature with the user’s identity and the exact signing time.
